PIC Questions

COVID-19 testing is available to all patients; including:

  • All patients with COVID-19 symptoms
  • All healthcare workers, first responders, and essential workers
  • Patients with exposures to COVID-19 (close contact with someone who has COVID-19)
  • Exposed patients that live with a family member that is deemed at risk
    • If you are not experiencing symptoms, please wait at least 3 days (72 hours) from the time of exposure to be tested.  This will provide the most accurate results.
  • Students that require a test to return back to school
  • Patients requiring a test for travel purposes

If you have tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 5 days, you are still considered to be positive for COVID-19 until you have completed the isolation period recommended by the CDC. If you request us to retest you while you are still in this isolation period, Physicians Immediate Care is obligated to include your previous test results in the medical recommendations we provide during your visit today.

If you have recovered from a COVID-19 infection but develop new symptoms, talk to your healthcare provider. While some providers may offer retesting for patients with symptoms, at Physicians Immediate Care we find a symptomatic approach to be most effective.

At your in-person or virtual appointment, your doctor will ask about your symptoms, take your medical history, and perform an exam if needed. Based on your symptoms, your doctor will assess your COVID-19 risk. At this time, they will also advise you on your next steps, including instructions for treatment and isolation if necessary.

An appointment is recommended for a COVID-19 exam and test but we will also accept walk-ins.  For all other urgent care services  (i.e., injuries, illnesses, x-rays, physical exams, etc.) patients can reserve their time or walk-in at their convenience.

For a COVID-19 exam and test, please follow the below instructions:

  1. Reserve your time by visiting the clinic page or the COVID-19 testing location page or you may walk-in at your convenience.
  2. Please arrive 15 minutes before your appointment time. Remain outside or in your car, until directed to by a staff member. Please text the clinic to let them know you have arrived. You can do this by replying to the confirmation text you received when you made your appointment.
  3. Bring your insurance card and a valid ID.

We will always try to bill your insurance first for the COVID-19 physical exam and the COVID-19 test. However, we recommend you contact your insurance carrier for exact pricing because it may vary depending on your plan.

If you decide to self-pay instead of insurance the pricing is below:

  • COVID-19 Test and Exam: $265 - Illinois
  • COVID-19 Test and Exam: $250- Wisconsin
  • COVID-19 Test and Exam $240- Indiana

*At this time, all COVID-19 tests require an exam by one of our medical providers. Additional costs may occur if additional services are required.

Rapid COVID-19 PCR testing is available and we offer it primarily to patients who do NOT have symptoms. If you are exhibiting symptoms, you will receive either a rapid antigen test or, if necessary, a send-out PCR test (results in 3-5 working days).

The Abbott ID NOW COVID-19 Molecular PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) molecular test and the antigen test both provide results in 15 minutes or less.

Testing is available at all locations in Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin.

We will test those that need a test prior to travel.

We offer a Molecular PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) test for travel purposes. This is a Nucleic Acid Amplification Test (NAAT) with results in 24 to 48 hours. This type of test satisfies most travel requirements, please check with your specific airline carrier. For more information on COVID testing for travel, please check out our blog!
