Can I go to an urgent care with an HMO insurance plan?

At Physicians Immediate Care we accept most major HMO and PPO plans, as well as cash, checks, or credit cards. Some HMO type plans require members to have a referral from their primary care provider prior to seeking treatment at an urgent care. If your HMO falls under an Advocate Medical Group, or one of the other medical groups listed below, you do not need a referral prior to coming to Physicians Immediate Care.  The Medical group that your HMO plan falls under will be notated somewhere on your insurance card.

BCBS HMO Medical Groups for which a referral requirement is waived at PIC:

  • AMITA Medical Group
  • Advocate Physicians Partners (Chicagoland locations only)
