William Connors
I am currently the Third Party Collections Specialist Team Lead in the workers' compensation department. We work with patients, employers, insurance companies as well as our clinics, billing, and cash posting departments to resolve outstanding workers compensation invoices in a timely manner. I provide direction to my team when they have questions and I create processes to assist them in performing their duties more effectively. I provide updates to management in regards to the accounts receivable and answer any questions they may have.
I interviewed with PIC in July 2016 through Medix Staffing Agency for a workers compensation collector position and was hired. After my probationary period ended in December 2016, I was hired by PIC as a workers' compensation third party collection specialist. In May 2018, I was encouraged by some of my co-workers in the workers' compensation department to apply for the team lead position that had opened up. I applied and was promoted to team lead.
I enjoy what I do and I enjoy assisting the collection staff in resolving their issues and making the department a fun place to come to work. I hope to continue working at PIC and assist whoever I can whenever I can to make staff and patient experiences positive ones.
I see our mission at work every day in our daily interactions with patients who have concerns in regards to their outstanding balances. We guide the patients through the worker's compensation process from filing a first report of injury with their employer, to having their invoices processed for payment by the insurance carrier. We provide the patients with payment options should their claim be denied. We treat everyone with courtesy and respect. We work together to ensure we provide remarkable care the patient can count on when and where they need it.
I’ve always appreciated the flex time. I have 4 grandchildren ranging in age from 2 years old to 11 years old that I transport to day care during the week. Most of the time I pull the transport off flawlessly, sometimes I do not. The flex time allows me to take care of my grandchildren’s needs and to complete my day at work without being stressed about time.
At PIC, if you have a positive attitude and if you enjoy working with patients, then you can make a positive difference in each patient’s healthcare experience.
