Girls on the Run is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization that aims to empower young girls and unveil to them their endless potential in the world. GOTR teaches girls valuable life lessons through small team meetings and creative running games. Going one step beyond that, each team with GOTR creates their own service project to benefit the communities around them. We are happy to support such a powerful organization that teaches girls about the power of serving others. Founded in 1996, Girls on the Run started out with one school and only thirteen girls. Since then, this amazing group has expanded to serving over 185,000 girls across their 200 councils in all 50 states! Like Girls on the Run, we think maintaining a happy and healthy lifestyle is very important, and we are thankful to be able to be involved with this noble cause.
Here are some of the reasons we love working with Girls on the Run
★ Learning
GOTR teaches young girls valuable lessons and strives to create an atmosphere where girls can make decisions that allow them to live their lives to their fullest potential. Dealing with topics ranging from peer pressure to facing adversity in the real world teach the girls to stand firm and not let anyone tell them otherwise.
★ Service
There is no better feeling than knowing you have given back to the community. Serving GOTR is one way we are able to do that. At the end of each season, participants of GOTR set out to launch their Community Impact Projects. Each of these projects are specialized to fit best the environment of the mission, ranging from taking the time to send handwritten notes to people who need a splash of positivity, to doing community-wide bake sales to benefit earthquake victims. Each project affects the community and helps teach the girls how great it feels to lend a helping hand.
★ Physical Activity
Get up and get moving! There are so many fantastic health benefits physical activity. Girls on the Run teams participate in a 5K race that ranges in the number of people involved. Races can be small family events or large races comprised of many strong, empowered women. We are honored to be a local sponsor of GOTR Chicago, and we enjoy attending some of the larger races. It is amazing to see these bright girls excited to get up, move, and show the world what they can do.
